The Polish American Association Certified Nurse Assistant Program is 14 weeks long and consists of 150 hours (100 hours of theory and 40 hours of clinical) in the basic principles and procedures of patient care. Clinical experience is obtained in a long term care setting (Nursing Home/ Hospital). The program prepares the students to give personal care to patients by helping them meet, basic human needs for everyday living. They also participate in ESL classes, CPR, learn to write a resume and learn interviewing skills. The Program instructor is a Registered Professional Nurse, licensed in Illinois. Upon successful passing of the state exam the students can also take advantage of Physical Rehabilitation Aide training (PRA). This training is 30 hours long and is conducted over two consecutive weekends. ACCREDITATION The program is approved by Illinois Department of Public Health for Nurse Assistant Certificate. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are assisted in taking the Illinois Nurse Aide Competency Examination. Passing this exam is a requirement of becoming a Certified Nursing Aide, licensed to a practice as a nursing assistant all over the state. Students receive the textbook and other materials free of charge. We provide placement assistance, which includes teaching job search and job readiness skills, as well as finding jobs for participants and placing them into unsubsidized employment.
