Turning Point Day Shelter For The Homeless Men
Monday, 25 October 2010 15:06

Since 1986, the Polish American Association has provided Chicago’s only Polish/English bilingual day shelter for homeless persons. The Turning Point program, located at the North-West side of Chicago, reduces homelessness through creating a safe and sober environment in which homeless men can receive counseling, support and guidance toward achieving a turning point in their lives. The program operates from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, seven days a week, offering clients two home-cooked meals daily, showers and laundry facilities, daily transportation to and from a night shelter, individual and group counseling, as well as job assistance. In addition to the support provided by Turning Point, the program also acts as a gateway to the wealth of other PAA services, including substance abuse treatment, ESL classes, and immigration and employment services. Intake hours are: between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Prior phone contact from the referring agency is requested. Walk-ins are accepted as space permits. Initial needs assessment and physical screening is conducted upon intake.
